Various Artists – ‘The Sound Of Nuusic Vol. 1’ (Nuusic)

Right now I’m listening to the first compilation coming from a new label based in Manchester. It’s called Nuusic and the collection is named “The Sound Of Nuusic Vol. 1”, adding up works by man like Aries, Hyphen, MC Fox, DJ Cautious, Kelvin373, Margaman, Too Greezey, Brocka T, Warhead, Ikon-B, Sl8r, Erbman, Jinx, Epicentre and RMS.

As one can see by looking at the list of producers and artists involved, I will not talk about each and every single track. But to get an impression of the overall flavor, I picked 4 tracks that add up my feelings about the LP.

My favorite is “Give Her Some Lovin” by Ikon-B, a Reggae-inspired Amen roller with lots of pace, but still dope! Even doper is the drum orientated “Wid It” by Sl8er, which is basically drums, drums, drums, low bass drops and voc sample here and there!

On the other end of the scale, there is Too Greezey with “Always Be Mine”, a melodic tune driven by vocals and piano! Love it, just as Warhead’s “Mercy”, which is super percussive. Lots of beat samples, a little portion of Buju Banton and a mid range wobble bass are the main ingredients for this tool.

If you like D’n’B and Jungle, you’ll find a few tracks that fit into your crate for sure! I left out the darker tunes, but I recommend to take some time and listen for yourself. Strongly recommended, serious stuff coming from Manchester!
