No other label than Hospital Records celebrate their next birthday with “We Are 21”, a full album containing 68 (!) Tracks. I listened to a selection of 24. All work is being produced by the likes of S.P.Y., Logistics, Anile, Metrik, Fred V & Grafix, Noisia, Spectrasoul, Break and High Contrast, Urbandawn, Hugh Hardie, and Whiney plus exclusive tracks from producers such as Serum, Milkyway, T>I and Lakeway and remixes and collaborative input from the likes of Dimension, Alix Perez, Machinedrum and also future artists like Kimyan Law, GLXY and Polaris.
Of course, with such a big collection of tracks, one will always have the feeling of “I have heard this” on some of the tracks. Lots of the material is related to the typical Hospital sound of the last years, being very melodic, a bit melancholic and chart music orientated.
But I also found a lot of pearls in the chest, like S.P.Y.’s “Skyzoophonic”, Milkyway’s “Fairy Tale”, “Warning” by Whiney and “Bad Man” by T>I. Very fresh sound and some unusual soundscapes are included in lots of the tracks.
My favourite so far is “Blow Them Away” by Serum feat. Inja, which is absolutely not typical for Hospital! The whole release is absolutely recommended and more than worth checking! Thumbs up!
