Only a few weeks after the original release, Etherwood presents “Souvenirs (feat. Zara Kershaw)” in remixed versions. It’s gonna be released on Med School, too.
I really like the original version, so remixes have difficulty in convincing me. They either have to be real creative with re-arranging or re-harmonising, or should switch the mood and style.
Plus: I have a hard time with enjoying House remixes (of DnB tracks), that’s why I’m no fan of the “Friend Within Remix”. Decreasing the tempo does no good to the vocals and after the drop, the tracks does not really sound like a remix at all. Sorry, not my kind of thing.
Luckily, the other remixes are quite playable. The “Ulterior Motive Remix” counts on live drum sounds and dope, low jungle basses alongside some piano chords here and there… and I really like that! Less upliftment than in the original version, yet I believe the story.
The “S.P.Y. Remix” is the dancefloor orientated version with more mid range frequencies and melodies, but nice passages of falling back into the original mood. I like that too!
So: Worth checking, at least the DnB versions!
